A webinar hosted by Defence for Children International and Human Rights Watch examined the impact of COVID-19 on children deprived of liberty and highlighted the key findings of the Global Study. Najat Maalla M’jid, UN Special Representative of the Secretary General on Violence Against and Chair of the UN Inter-Agency Tasks Force to the Global Study on Children Deprived of Liberty, moderated this session with more than 250 participants. High-level panelists, such as Felipe González Morales, UN Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Migrants, Jo Becker, Advocacy Director of the Children’s Rights Division of HRW and Ann Skelton, Member of UN Committee on the Rights of the Child also shared their expertise. Manfred Nowak and the Global Study Team are very much looking forward to the cooperation with the UN Inter-Agency Taskforce for the GSCDL, who has now taken the lead on the follow up to the Global Study.
