Presentation on the Treatment to Unaccompanied Migrant Children in the US

As part of the Experts Speak Series, the Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law from the Washington College of Law hosted an online event where experts on children’s rights gave a short overview of the current situation and treatment of Unaccompanied Migrant Children in the US. Aaron Fellmeth, Professor at the Arizona State University of Law, moderated this session that focused on US policies on family separation, migrant child detention and its implication on international law and psychological effects on the children and families. Manfred Nowak presented the Global Study and highlighted the very high number of children deprived of liberty in the US in the context of migration and the need to release them.
