The African Child Policy Forum (ACPF) and the Ethiopian Ministry of Women, Children and Youth held a national consultative workshop in Addis Ababa during the 22nd and the 23rd of February to discuss the rights and protection of children of imprisoned mothers. This event brought together multiple stakeholders, such as members of the Federal Supreme Court, the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission, members of the Prison Administration Commission from different Ethiopian regions and the Global Campus of Human Rights in addition to the hosting institutions. Following the presentation on the relevant existing legal frameworks and of the Global Study, a session was organised during the first day focusing on the Guidelines for Action in the Justice System in Africa. During the second day, representatives from different regional Prison Administration Commissions presented the reality lived by children imprisoned with their mothers. These presentations were followed by an expert panel and facilitated a multilateral discussion on the current situation and possible ways forward to ensure children´s rights.
