On the 23rd November the Barneombudet (Ombudsperson for Children) and the University of Oslo organized the yearly Lucy Smiths Conference. This year the conference had a focus on the rights of children in conflict with the law in the Norwegian context. Following the opening words and the presentation of the main findings of the Global Study on children in conflict with the law by Manfred Nowak, Norwegian experts Inga Bejer Engh, the Ombudsman for Children, Merete Havre, Associate Professor at OsloMet, Heidi Aase, department director at the National Institute of Public Health and further experts reviewed the Norwegian criminal procedure rules and practices, shared their views and knowledge on crime prevention work, including child-friendly processes within diversion.
