In order to support professionals working with children deprived of liberty during the Covid-19 pandemic, Terre des Hommes, Baker McKenzie, IBCR, PRI and AIMJF created together a set of practical tools consisting of a policy and practice brief to release children from detention and a set of operational guidelines for social workers, security forces and legal professionals. On the 7th October, experts from Terre des Hommes, the Global Initiative on Justice with Children, members of the UN Committee of the Right of the Child, Baker McKenzie and Penal Reform International among others discussed the situation of children deprived of liberty in times of Covid-19 and new resources to help professionals dealing with such situations. Also Manfred Nowak participated in this webinar as Independent Expert of the GSCDL and emphasised the importance of releasing children and implementing non-custodial measures.
