During a two-day workshop, the Advancing Child Rights Strategic Litigation (ACRiSL) project hosted an event where legal practitioners from Europe and Asia shared their experience on strategic litigation. Organised by the follow-up programme of the UN Global Study on Children Deprived of Liberty at the Global Campus of Human Rights, this workshop provided participants with a space to present their work as well as the main challenges and successes in relation to children that are deprived of liberty for migration-related purposes. The participants also discussed potential ways to move forward and highlighted the importance of having networks or other platforms where they could exchange their experiences on a regular basis. In this context, Manfred Nowak presented the Global Study with a focus on migration and on the importance of using alternatives to detention, as detention of children for migration purposes can never be a measure of last resort.
