On the 4th of April, the Kathmandu School of Law and the Global Campus of Human Rights hosted the South Asian Regional Launch of the Global Study and policy research on children deprived of liberty in the area of administration of justice. Following the opening words and presentation of the Global Study, this event provided a space to launch eight country specific situational analysis on Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The authors of the analysis presented their research findings and recommendations and answered to questions from the public. The analyses also contain examples of promising practices, two of which were shared through an interactive map that is being developed by the Global Study Team and will be launched in July. This event also provided the space to share the video message by a child in Bangladesh, shared by the UNICEF Regional Office for South Asia. Following an open discussion and questions from the participants, closing remarks were provided by the coordinator of the country specific analysis. The hosting institutions of this event were supported by UNICEF South Asia, the National Child Rights Council of the Government of Nepal as well as the National Child Protection Alliance of Nepal.
